Research trips

One of the tendency of the scientific-researching activities of the museum is scientific –searching and expedition works, which “ALLZHIR” museum staff actively organize.

In the period from January 28 to February 3, 2019, in the framework of the implementation of the program article of the Head of State N. A. Nazarbayev “View to the future: spiritual revival” in order to preserve the memory of the tragic days and events of the 30s and 50s of the 20th century against the victims of totalitarianism, the formation of patriotic education among the younger generation, the popularization of the museum's activities, preparations are underway for a research mission in Tel Aviv, Haifa, Kiryat Gat (Israel), which will be held from April 30 to May 5, 2019.

In order to collect materials relating to women of Jewish nationality, prisoners of “ALZHIR”, the museum staff will conduct research work in the archives of the Museum of the History of the Jewish People (Museum of the Diaspora) in Tel Aviv (Israel).

During the trip, the museum staff planned to hold an event "The memory of them still alive..." in conjunction with the Museum of the History of the Jewish People (Museum of the Diaspora) in Tel Aviv. Guests of the event: Jewish Soviet poet, journalist and translator, editor-in-chief of the online magazine “We Are Here”, edited in New York City by Shkolnik Leonid Borisovich, Soviet film director, and film producer Shafir Sergey Iosifovich.

            The event will include a meeting with the descendants of “ALZHIR” prisoners living in Israel: Maya Sheinina daughter of Sophia Zilberberg, Raia Kulbak daughter of Zelda Kulbak, Lily Verkholevskaya (Liechtenstein) daughter of Enta Liechtenstein, Tatyana Shevchenko granddaughter of Mariam Antsis, who are ready to donate materials and objects that once belonged to their parents. During the event, there will be a presentation of the exhibition “In Memory of Jewish Women” and a collection of memoirs of repressed children “Descendants remember”, published by the museum team for the 10th anniversary of the museum and the 80th anniversary of the beginning of mass political repressions. At the end of the event, the documentary “Blistery cold of “ALZHIR” was shown.

During the research trip a memorandum will be concluded between the Museum and memorial complex "ALZHIR" and the Museum of the History of the Jewish People for further cooperation on the study and clarification of the list of women of Jewish nationality and children convicted as "family members of traitors to motherland".

On February 14, the Chairperson of the museum’s primary trade union organization S. Mailibayeva participated in a training seminar “Protection of labor rights by trade unions based on the Labor Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, organized by the Training Center of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan. During the seminar, the basics of labor legislation, collective bargaining agreements, the procedure for amending and terminating an employment contract were reviewed. At the end of the training seminar, participants were awarded with certificates.

On February 25, museum employees Zh. Yergeldinova and S. Mailibayeva took part in the work of the Professional Session Program in the Open Space format “Kazakhstan Museum: Ideas and Realities in the Epoch of Globalization and Informatization”, held at the Library Museum of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. During the session, questions were considered about the accounting activities of museums, the problems of forming electronic databases, custodian activities, the use of information resources in research and fund work, and restoration activities in the museum. At the end of the session, the museum employees were presented with certificates of participants.

From February 26 to 28, the staff of the museum’s excursion and exhibition work of the museum G.Tulepbergenova and K. Parkhomenko took part in refresher courses for employees of excursion services and museum pedagogy of museums, with the aim of improving the quality of services provided to tourists in Astana, as well as enhancing the tourist attractiveness of the city and improving the image of the capital, organized by Astana Convention Bureau. Upon completion, the museum employees were awarded certificates of completion of a refresher course.

В ходе организованного фестиваля в секции «Наука» С. Майлибаева выступила с докладом, в котором рассказала об исследовательской и экспозиционно-выставочной работе музея, а также о сотрудничестве с потомками, проживающими в странах дальнего и ближнего зарубежья, а также о мероприятиях, проводимых по увековечиваю памяти жертв политических репрессий 30-50-х гг. ХХ века. По окончании С. МИайлибаевой был вручен сертификат, свидетельствующий о том, что она являлась спикером на фестивале «FemAgora» в секции «Наука».
