On January 15, the "ALZHIR" museum and memorial complex was visited by Umirtaeva Zhadira, the granddaughter of Kudamanov Shegen, born in 1902, a native of the Chili district of the Kyzylorda region, who was sentenced by the Kyzylorda Regional Court on August 27, 1950 under Articles 58-10, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR to 10 years in prison with a 5-year suspension of voting rights. The guests were given a tour of the halls "Alash", "ALZHIR" and the documentary film "The Fierce Cold of ALZHIR" was shown. During the visit, she donated authentic photographs and archival documents of her repressed grandfather to the museum's fund.
On February 12, the "ALZHIR" museum and memorial complex was visited by a delegation of representatives of the USAID leadership and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to the Republic of Kazakhstan. The distinguished guests were given a tour of the halls of Alash and "ALZHIR ", the documentary film "The Fierce Cold of ALZHIR " was shown, and a collection of memoirs of the prisoners of "ALZHIR" and their descendants, Descendants Remember, was presented, published by the museum staff for the 10th anniversary of the museum and the 80th anniversary of the beginning of mass political repression. In the museum's book of reviews, the distinguished guest made an entry thanking the museum staff for their contribution to preserving the memory of the tragic days and events of the 1930s and 1950s.
On March 24, the "ALZHIR" museum and memorial complex was visited by guests from Italy, Roberto and Altyn Boltri. Roberto Boltri, a consultant for the international environmental organization in Central Asia through the eyes of foreign environmental experts who studies the Karlag and "ALZHIR" camps, requested information about Italians who served their sentences in "ALZHIR". The book "Prisoners of ALZHIR", published in 2003 by the Memorial Society, contains brief information on the Italian Maria Kontardovna Varentseva, who was sentenced on March 22, 1938 by the CCA under the NKVD of the USSR as a CHSIR to 8 years in prison. She arrived in Akmola region on May 04, 1938 from Butyrka prison in Moscow. She was in "ALZHIR" until November 10, 1943. She died on November 10, 1943.
The guests were given a tour of the halls of Alash and "ALZHIR", the documentary film "The Fierce Cold of ALZHIR" was shown, and a collection of memoirs of prisoners and their children, "Descendants Remember", published by the memorial staff for the 10th anniversary of the opening of the "ALZHIR" museum, was presented.
On April 15, Anton Evgenievich Vesnik, grandson of Evgenia Emmanuilovna Vesnik, a prisoner of "The Fierce Cold of ALZHIR", visited the "ALZHIR " museum and memorial complex. Evgenia Vesnik was convicted as the "wife of an enemy of the people" and served her sentence in the "ALZHIR" camp, working on a goose farm. Her son, Evgeny Yakovlevich Vesnik (1923-2009), was a People's Artist of the USSR, actor, and director. A tour of the halls "Alash" and "ALZHIR" was conducted for the guest and the documentary film "The Fierce Cold of ALZHIR" was shown. In memory of the museum, a collection of memoirs of the prisoners of "ALZHIR" and their descendants, "Descendants Remember," published by the museum staff for the 10th anniversary of the memorial and the 80th anniversary of the beginning of mass political repression, was presented.
On April 24, Prime Minister of the Czech Republic P. Fiala visited the "ALZHIR" museum and memorial complex and, honoring the memory of the prisoners, laid flowers at the Memorial Wall. Two Czech prisoners, Vesnik Evgeniya Emmanuilovna and Zabranskaya, Rabbi Gabriela Norbertovna, served their sentences in "ALZHIR". Archival materials of Vesnik Evgeniya are available in the museum's collection. A tour of the halls of "Alash" and "ALZHIR" was conducted for the distinguished guest and the documentary film "The Fierce Cold of ALZHIR" was shown.
On June 20, the "ALZHIR" museum and memorial complex was visited by the daughters of the repressed Kudamanov, Shegen Sharip and Salim Kudamanov, as well as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Kudamanov Shegen, born in 1902, a native of the Chiliy district of the Kyzylorda region, was sentenced by the verdict of the Kyzylorda Regional Court on August 27, 1950 under Articles 58-10, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR to 10 years in prison with a defeat in voting rights for 5 years.
Archival materials, photographs and personal belongings donated to the museum by Umirtayeva's granddaughter Zhadira in February of this year are displayed at the exhibition "Unique Exhibits of ALZHIR", dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of Victims of Political Repression and Famine. Sharipa and Salima Kudamanova thanked the museum staff for preserving the memory of the tragic events of the 30-50s of the twentieth century and presented a letter of thanks. The guests were given a tour of the halls "Alash", "ALZHIR " and the documentary film "The Fierce Cold of ALZHIR" was shown.
On June 25, members of the Council of Europe visited the "ALZHIR" museum and memorial complex. For distinguished guests, a tour of the halls of the “Alash” and “ALZHIR"” museums was conducted free of charge and the documentary film "The Fierce Cold of ALZHIR" was shown.
On July 11, Tatiana Yassievich, the great-niece of the prisoner Evgenia Levina, who lives in the Netherlands, visited the "ALZHIR" museum and memorial complex. The guest was given a tour of the halls of the museum "Alash", "ALZHIR" and the documentary film "The Fierce Cold of ALZHIR" was shown. During the meeting, she handed over to the museum's foundation a certificate of rehabilitation for her great-aunt Evgenia Levina.
On July 18, a delegation led by the Commander of the Ground Forces, Acting Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Turkey, Army General Musa Avsever, visited the museum and memorial complex in Astana. The distinguished guests were given a tour of the halls of the museum "Alash", "ALZHIR" and the documentary film "The Fierce Cold of ALZHIR" was shown.
On July 21, a delegation led by the Secretary of State for Relations with the Church and Ethnic Communities of the Office of the Prime Minister of Hungary, Mr. Miklos Szoltes, visited the museum and memorial complex. The distinguished guests were given a tour of the halls of the museum "Alash", "ALZHIR" and the documentary film "The Fierce Cold of ALZHIR" was shown.
On October 1, the "ALZHIR" museum and memorial complex was visited by a delegation led by the Director of the NATO International Military Headquarters, Lieutenant General Ya. Adamchaka. For the 8 guests, an English-language tour of the halls of the Alash and "ALZHIR " museums was conducted free of charge and the documentary film "The Fierce Cold of ALZHIR" was shown.
On October 10, the Mufti of Poland, Tomasz Miskiewicz, visited the "ALZHIR" museum and memorial complex. For the distinguished guest, a tour of the halls of the museum "Alash" and "ALZHIR" was conducted free of charge and the documentary film "The Fierce Cold of ALZHIR" was shown.
