On March 14, the ALZHIR Museum and Memorial complex, within the framework of the national decade of Nauryznama, on the Day of Culture and National Traditions among cultural institutions of Astana, demonstrated the “Amal holiday – Korisu Kuni” and the now almost forgotten “Biz Shanshar” ceremony within the framework of the “Ata Saltym – Asyl Kazynam” competition. Purpose: popularization of national values, revival of forgotten ancient traditions. On this day, the museum staff welcomed the members of the “Ata Saltym – asyl Kazynam “competition judge, wishing well and showing deep respect for their elders. The roots of the holiday go back to ancient times, when the Kazakh people were engaged in nomadic cattle breeding. After a long winter, relatives visited each other, inquired about the health of their loved ones, forgave offenses and counted cattle. The meaning of the "Biz shanshar" ceremony, which is also one of the customs associated with wedding ceremonies, was that most often a respected elder pins a "biz" awl in a prominent place in the house of guests, and the household also discovers that the "kayrak" touchstone has disappeared. Both of these items are very necessary in everyday life. If the girl's parents did not ask to return the touchstone back, it meant that matchmakers could be sent. In such an unusual way, our ancient ancestors expressed their desire to become related by marrying children. Folk songs were also performed during the event, national games were organized and a festive dastarkhan was served. For active participation in the “Ata Saltym – asyl Kazynam” contest, the museum staff was awarded a Letter of Appreciation from the Department for the Development of Languages and Archival Affairs of Astana.
